What is Oxidative Stress?
Oxidative stress, which Dr. Lipman often refers to as the body “rusting,” occurs when there's an imbalance between the production of “bad” free radicals in the body and the body's ability to neutralize them with “good” antioxidants. Free radicals are unstable molecules that contain unpaired electrons, making them highly reactive. They can damage cells, proteins, and DNA by "stealing" electrons from other molecules, a process known as oxidation.
