Health Coach Tip - Beauty Foods

Are anti-aging foods a thing? Sure they are! Fill your plate with antioxidant-rich and anti-inflammatory foods (AND reduce processed and sugary foods) and watch your diet do wonders for your overall health – anti-aging from the inside out!

Eat the Rainbow

Eat a wide variety of colorful vegetables and fruits which are loaded with antioxidants that help fight free-radical damage. For example, beta-carotene, an antioxidant found in yellow and orange foods, moves quickly into the skin to help protect it from pollution and sun damage. Vitamin C is another potent antioxidant found in many fruits and vegetables and helps counteract wrinkle formation. Silica, a mineral found in cucumber, is important for collagen formation.

Enjoy Healthy Fats

Healthy, anti-inflammatory fats, like omega 3s, can help our skin fend itself against sun damage. You will find omega 3s in fatty fish, flax and chia seeds and walnuts. Other healthy fats like avocados are particularly great because they also contain vitamin E which helps protect skin cell membranes.

Stay Clear of the Beauty-Busters

Avoid processed foods and pro-inflammatory foods such as fried foods, processed seed oils, white fours, and sugar. These foods are low in nutrients and can in fact, both draw nutrients out of your body as well as cause a low-grade inflammation - a terrible combo for a beautiful glow.
