Health Coach Tip - Why We Love Magnesium

Magnesium is so important for our wellbeing, playing a role in over 300 important enzymatic functions in the body. If you have a deficiency in magnesium, it can contribute to many varied symptoms. Most of us aren’t getting enough in our daily diets due to depleted soil that our food is grown in and the prescription and over-the-counter drugs we are taking. Eating lots of leafy greens, beans, nuts/seeds (dark chocolate!) and reducing your intake of alcohol and processed junk food is a great place to start to increase magnesium through diet - but sometimes you just need a good ol’ supplement.

Here’s a glimpse into why magnesium is a super mineral:

Calms You Down

Magnesium helps to balance the nervous system. It has a calming effect, which can help you relax and unwind.

Curbs Cravings

Nutrient deficiencies can show up as cravings. For example, chocolate cravings could be a magnesium deficiency in disguise.

Lulls You to Sleep

Magnesium can help protect against insomnia and give you a more restful nights sleep.

Fights Constipation

Magnesium can help with constipation. If you’re experiencing constipation, take magnesium citrate at night to help get things moving by morning.

Relieves Muscle Cramps

Magnesium helps to relax aching, tense muscles. Jump into an Epsom salt bath for some added relief.
